Kennel Cough

Kennel Cough is a highly contagious disease which makes dogs very uncomfortable and sometimes seriously ill. You can protect your own dog and others by ensuring your pet is vaccinated. All dogs coming to Honeybottom at any time of year will need to be vaccinated for kennel cough as a condition of acceptance. The new vaccine on the market is much improved and reduces the risk of the virus. It is still not 100% guaranteed to prevent infection but, after consulting our vets, we are making it a requirement at the times of year when the virus is very active. If your dog becomes infected with kennel cough, please remember that prompt treatment with benylin and keeping him/her away from other dogs is the only way to ensure the condition clears up quickly, with least distress to your pet.
